 Job Summary 
 

ETSU’s Division of Plastic Surgery is hiring for a full-time academic plastic surgeon at the Assistant / Associate Professor level with Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee State University in the Department of Surgery. Primary duties will include support for the plastic surgery needs of the Tri-Cities region of Tennessee. The practice is expected to consist broad mix of breast reconstruction and elective general plastic surgery, and other areas as tailored to the expertise and interests of the surgeon, with opportunities for craniofacial, microvascular, ortho plastic, hand/upper extremity, and cosmetic surgery. The surgeon will join a growing Division of Plastic Surgery at ETSU and work collaboratively within the division to meet the region’s reconstructive and plastic surgery needs. 

 The Tri-Cities area of Tennessee includes Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol and is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and captures the beauty of the Appalachian Highlands. East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine is located in Johnson City and is one of the nation’s leading schools for rural medicine and primary care training. In addition to comprehensive primary care services, Quillen brings highly trained surgical specialists to the region including trauma surgery, pediatric surgery, hepatobiliary, vascular surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. The area offers excellent schools, a low cost of living, and a wealth of outdoor activities from hiking the Appalachian trail to discovering new waterfalls, whitewater rafting/kayaking, fly fishing, and more. The Tri-Cities region is the fifth largest Combined Statistical Area in Tennessee with an estimated 500,538 people and East Tennessee was one of the top 10 “moved in” to areas in 2023 in the United States.

 

The position is contingent upon external funding. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Applicants must have an active medical license
  • Board certified or board eligible at the time of hire.
