Carpenter (Finish)

Job Summary

Employees in this classification work under general supervision and perform a variety of skilled tasks related to building maintenance and construction. Duties include erecting forms, cutting and assembling materials, and performing other related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to perceive small differences in objects and spatial relationships.
• Ability to attend to visual details.
• Ability to make precise arm and hand movements where strength and speed are minimized.
• Ability to plan and organize work effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
• Ability to use power tools commonly used in the carpentry trade.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations associated with construction and renovation tasks.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.
• Ability to make precise manipulations using simple hand tools.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with five years of experience in finish carpentry, or
• Completion of a carpenter apprenticeship program or vocational school, or
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
