The ETSU College of Nursing, Office of Practice invites applications for a full-time Nurse Practitioner for the Johnson City Community Health Center. 

This position provides advanced primary care services in accordance with the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act. This role is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing both acute and chronic health conditions across the lifespan. The Nurse Practitioner maintains accurate and timely documentation of all patient encounters and clinical services provided. The Nurse Practitioner provides supervision and guidance to assigned clinical and support staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient care environment. Participation in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities is an essential part of the role, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards. A strong commitment to health equity and the needs of vulnerable and underserved populations is central to this position, reflecting the clinic’s mission and values.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skill in assessment, diagnoses, and treatment of common acute and chronic health conditions.
  • Knowledge of recognized standards of care.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and set priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with preparation in advanced practice nursing (PMHNP, FNP, ANP, PNP or other specialty as required for position.)
  • Current unencumbered license as Registered Nurse in Tennessee or compact state.
  • National certification in appropriate area.
  • Certificate to fitness to prescribe.
  • Experience as specified for each position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience in advanced practice nursing (FNP, ANP, PNP or other specialty as required for position.)

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job across various settings in the classroom, simulation, clinical, and/or community. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, and balance. The employee may occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, and/or move more than 100 pounds. The employee must be able to perceive and respond to sounds and alarms; communicate effectively with others; and have a sufficient vision regarding near, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception as well as the ability to observe and monitor situations in full and dimmed light. The employee may stand, walk, and/or sit in various settings for up to 12 hours at a time in addition to the preparation and closure of a clinical shift. Rapid mobility may also be required on occasion. Physical expectations of an assigned clinical facility may vary and be subject to change.

Stress levels may be high due to frequently dealing with numerous students, patients, family members, and other healthcare providers. This position demands concentration and the ability to work in emotionally-charged situations.
