The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is expanding to add a fourth pediatric endocrinologist to an enthusiastic team supported by advanced practitioners, diabetes educators, a pediatric endocrine nurse and dietician. Since opening in 2015, the clinic has thrived by investing in the community to provide excellent clinical care, teach the next generation of providers, engage in meaningful research and quality improvement, and advocate for our patients.

The position is via a partnership with Ballad Health, the region’s health system encompassing 21 hospitals, of which Niswonger Children’s Hospital is the flagship pediatric institution for a catchment area of over 1 million people.  We are the referral location for children requiring pediatric endocrine care in Northeast TN, Southwest VA, and portions of KY and WV. All pediatric endocrine care is focused at this one location (no satellite clinic travel).  Inpatient endocrinology is a consult-only service supported by a strong intensivist and hospitalist team and pediatric residents. 

  • Established Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic representing 13 specialties in addition to a thriving outpatient patient base and pediatric hospital medicine program.
  • 24-bed Pediatric Inpatient Unit staffed by 8 Pediatric Hospital Medicine physicians.
  • 10-bed PICU
  • Level III 44-bed NICU
  • Friendly college community that is a great place to raise a family near the majestic Appalachian Highlands

 

Other Considerations for this Position:

  • The position is at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.  Faculty rank commiserate with education and experience.
  • Completion of child endocrinology fellowship is required at time of hire.
  • This is a non-tenure, clinical track position.  
  • Academic responsibilities include teaching of medical students and pediatric residents as well as academic pursuits.
  • Competitive salary and benefit package, contingent on external funding.

 

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to teach medical students and residents.
  • Ability to perform routine and customary care of the inpatient and outpatient pediatric endocrinology patients.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • MD/DO
  • Completion of Pediatric Endocrinology Fellowship at time of hire.
  • Must be BC/BE in Pediatric Endocrinology at time of hire.
