Job Summary
     
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining athletic and recreational grounds across campus. Duties include mowing, trimming, weeding, bed maintenance, litter pickup, field painting, and preparing fields for games and events. Work areas include the soccer and softball fields, golf facility, intramural fields, walking track, and ropes course.

The role involves operating light motor vehicles and turf equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, tractors, and blowers. Candidates should demonstrate basic turf care knowledge, effective time management, and the ability to work independently in all weather conditions. This is considered an essential personnel position during inclement weather.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to manage time, to ensure all tasks are completed within a given time.
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication skills.
  • Ability to operate the following equipment: Reel Mowers, Scag Mower, Weed Eater, push Mower, hand Tools, Hand Sprayer, Fertilizer Spreader, Tractor, Blower, and Utility Vehicles.
  • Specialized Skills in mowing direction, patterns, and utilization of Turf Mowers.
  • Ability to produce a high-quality result in all aspects of Turf maintenance duties.
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions, all seasons of the year.
  • Knowledge and Ability to perform many different specialized tasks pertaining to horticulture, Athletic Fields, and Turf Maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • High school/GED
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in turf maintenance preferred.

Physical Demands (as needed)

  • Perform strenuous physical work on a daily basis
  • Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions year-round
  • Lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and materials as needed
  • Perform repetitive motions such as bending, lifting, kneeling, and climbing
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time
