Bowhead seeks Telecommunications Technician II

 

Bowhead seeks an experienced Telecommunications Technician II to support Base Telecommunications System operations and maintenance at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, NJ. The Telecommunications Technician II will perform technical support and maintenance activities across the base telecommunications infrastructure, including preventive maintenance inspections, cable infrastructure documentation, and telecommunications system support.

This position supports mission-critical telecommunications systems and assists with maintaining the reliability and operational readiness of the Base Telecommunications System.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include: 

  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections on telecommunications infrastructure including manholes and handholes.
  • Inspect telecommunications terminals and associated infrastructure to ensure systems remain operational and properly maintained.
  • Conduct scheduled testing of spare conductors and telecommunications cabling.
  • Support maintenance and inspection of telecommunications outside plant infrastructure.
  • Collect and document communications feature data and update telecommunications infrastructure databases.
  • Perform geospatial data collection and support updates to telecommunications infrastructure records.
  • Assist with telecommunications system documentation and records management.
  • Support telecommunications maintenance and repair activities as directed.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and restoration of telecommunications outages and service disruptions.
  • Support work order execution including installation, relocation, and removal of telecommunications services and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance actions, and telecommunications system updates.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Technical training in telecommunications, networking, or information technology is preferred.
  • Years of experience
    • Minimum of three to five years of experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure or telecommunications maintenance operations required.

  • Required skills or certifications
    • Experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure maintenance including inside plant and outside plant systems.
    • Working knowledge of telecommunications cable infrastructure including copper and fiber systems.
    • Experience performing preventive maintenance inspections on telecommunications infrastructure.
    • Ability to collect and document telecommunications infrastructure data and maintain system records.
    • Ability to troubleshoot telecommunications service issues and support restoration activities.
    • Ability to read and interpret telecommunications drawings, cable records, and infrastructure documentation.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
    • Strong communication and coordination skills when working with telecommunications teams and government personnel.
  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

 

 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no Security Clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check.  Due to the location of this work, US Citizenship is required.  Bowhead reserves the right to change this requirement if necessitated by business needs or contractual obligations.
