General Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to Head Start Performance Standards, State Licensing Standards, and Division Policies and Procedures. 
  2. Act as delegate for Site Supervisor when needed.
  3. Conduct community recruitment for the program.
  4. Ensure active supervision and safety of children at all times.
  5. Maintain and rotate classroom materials and supplies.
  6. Collaborate with staff and parents to develop individualized goals for children.
  7. Maintain comprehensive assessment portfolios for each child.
  8. Facilitate weekly planning meetings and implement IEP/IFSP.
  9. Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences.
  10. Provide social and emotional support, and implement curriculum with intentional teaching experiences.
  11. Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.

Requirements

  1. Associate's degree, Bachelors’ degree and a Professional Education License, or a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
  2. 36+ college credits in early childhood education if the degree is in a related field.
  3. 1-8 years of experience in a childcare setting. 
  4. At least 19 years old.
  5. Obtain Illinois Gateway ECE Credential Level 5 within 6 months to 1 year.
  6. Knowledge of child development, instructional strategies, and classroom management.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  9. Complete background clearance, physical, and TB test.
  10. Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
  11. Adhere to the Agency’s Code of Ethics and conduct all responsibilities in accordance with the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook.
