Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including walk-in coolers, freezers, and display cases
- Diagnose system issues such as temperature inconsistencies, refrigerant leaks, and compressor failures
- Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
- Monitor and adjust system controls to ensure proper temperature and energy efficiency
- Handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA and environmental regulations
- Respond promptly to refrigeration emergencies to prevent product loss
- Install and replace refrigeration components including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and valves
- Maintain accurate service records, logs, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and food safety regulations
- Coordinate with external vendors or contractors for major repairs or installations
- Assist with related mechanical or HVAC tasks as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of commercial refrigeration experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, components, and diagnostics
- Experience with HVAC systems is a plus
- Ability to read technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
