JOB SUMMARY:
The Forklift Driver is responsible for operating a forklift to transport raw materials, finished products, and other items safely and efficiently throughout the peanut processing facility. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining production flow, inventory accuracy, and workplace safety. The ideal candidate has experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or manufacturing setting and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move, Load, and unload materials.
- Transport raw peanuts, finished products, and packaging materials between storage and production areas.
- Ensure the safe and efficient stacking and storage of materials in designated areas.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts.
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines and forklift operating procedures.
- Assist with inventory management by scanning, labeling, and recording material movements.
- Support warehouse and production teams in maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or material shortages to the supervisor.
- Adhere to food safety regulations, including HACCP, GMP, and company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid forklift operator certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Experience operating forklifts in a warehouse, manufacturing, or food processing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to safety and ability to follow procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Basic math and record-keeping skills.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, noise, and moving equipment.
- Fast-paced warehouse and production environment.
- Requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
