Job Summary
Employees in this classification work under general supervision and are responsible for overseeing and maintaining the facilities and grounds of the COM Campus. Responsibilities include completing daily work activities and ensuring the campus is maintained in a safe, clean, and operational condition. Duties may include conducting routine inspections of the COM Campus grounds, performing general maintenance activities, and operating equipment and machinery safely and efficiently to support campus maintenance operations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to meet operational requirements. Facilities employees may be required to report to work during emergency closures or inclement weather events to perform essential duties, including snow and ice removal, and other critical maintenance functions necessary to support campus operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and materials used in grounds maintenance.
Knowledge of grounds and landscape maintenance principles and techniques.
Knowledge of practices used in the operation of assigned heavy equipment and heavy duty vehicles.
Knowledge of State, city, and campus traffic regulations.
Knowledge of safety precautions and maintenance of heavy equipment.
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Knowledge of a broad spectrum of tasks associated with grounds and landscape maintenance.
Ability to perform all tasks associated with grounds and landscape maintenance.
Ability to operate heavy equipment for extended periods under unfavorable climatic conditions.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor and workers of lower classification.
Ability to demonstrate proper work methods.
Ability to ensure necessary equipment, supplies, and planning are available to complete tasks.
Ability to use and operate a variety of tools and equipment required in the performance of duties.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma Required.
Experience in grounds maintenance or related areas
Valid Driver’s License required at appointment and incumbency.

Job Family - Facilities Services Building and Grounds Assistant 2
Salary – MR 3 ($16.71 per hour -Salary Schedules)
