Community Support Services of Missouri (CSS) has been in operation since 1978 supporting children and adults with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities. Position Summary
Direct Support Professionals at Community Support Services provide high quality, person centered, hands on support to individuals with a variety of developmental and/or physical disabilities. Hands-on support includes assistance in all activities of daily living as identified by an individual’s habilitation team. These supports may include, but are not limited to, daily cleaning responsibilities, meal preparation, maintenance and administration of medications, transportation, assistance with personal hygiene and companionship.
Essential Functions
- Review and Implementation of the Individualized Plan (ISP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP). Â
- Provide support while demonstrating respect and dignity of the individual served by interacting with individuals served in a positive, person centered manner.Â
- Commitment to providing quality services to individuals and their families.
- Monitoring of individual physical and emotional health.
- Follow operational policies and procedures developed by the Agency for all areas of individual care. Â
- Submit all required documentation by the required deadlines.
- Maintain open, positive, person centered communication with Supervisor(s) and stakeholders.Â
- Attend all required trainings as scheduled
- Adhere to staffing rotation expectations as established by CSS policy and program processes.
- Performs related work as assigned
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Confidence in interaction with individuals of all ages and with a variety of disabilities. Â Â
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Be able to work independently and within a team atmosphere
- Ability to be flexible in all areasÂ
- Resourceful in accomplishing tasks and directives
- Provide support without fostering dependenceÂ
- Make defendable, common sense decisions
Required Education
HS Diploma or Equivalent
Qualifications
- A valid driver’s license and good driving record, as well as proof of current auto insurance is required.Â
- Must have dependable transportation with functioning heat and air conditioning systems and fully functioning seat belts for safety.
- Must pass all required federal, state and agency required background checks.
- Obtain and maintain all required training, including but not limited to, CPI Association requirements for physical intervention, CPR, First Aid Training, Medication Administration, ABA principals and implementation techniques in accordance with CSS policy.Â
- Prefer one (1) year experience working with individuals with disabilities.Â
Physical Requirements
- All employees should possess the ability to:
- Lift 50 pounds or more on a repeated basis as required.
- Potentially bend, stoop, kneel, and twist repeatedly.
- Operate any required equipment with good dexterity.Â
- Traverse changing terrain.Â
- Periodically alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.
