Join Southwest Missouri Bank as a New Accounts Representative at our Stone's Corner location. This vital role will be responsible for providing prompt, courteous, and accurate customer service while assisting customers with deposit account products and banking inquiries. This position is responsible for explaining account services to prospective customers and assists in preparing applications for accounts. Must maintain an in-depth working knowledge of bank products and services and the ability to cross sell products and services as appropriate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Handle internal and external customer needs and inquiries by providing accurate, efficient and confidential customer service.
  • Possess and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of accounts and products to assist customers in ways to best suit their financial needs.
  • Recognize opportunities to cross sell bank products and services to existing and prospective customers to meet company goals.
  • Complete all necessary documentation for customers in accordance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare signature cards, check orders, transfers and service charges.
  • Inform/educate customers of procedures for applying for services, such as business accounts, personal accounts, certificates of deposits, individual retirement accounts, safe deposit boxes, etc.
  • Provide deposit growth through customer and prospective customer calls and involvement in bank activities and community events.
  • Monitor and assist overflow customers in the lobby waiting in the teller line.
  • Fill in as a teller when schedules permits and assistance is needed (i.e., vacations, leave of absences).
  • Participate in available training to strengthen job knowledge.
  • Maintains a work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records.
  • Cross train to cover other areas as needed and performs other related duties as assigned.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent customer service skills with active listening skills
  • Trustworthiness and the ability to act with integrity
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Detailed and service-oriented with ability to multi-task
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills
  • Friendly and/or outgoing personality
  • Ability to prioritize and follow up as necessary
  • Basic computer skills (Jack Henry, Microsoft Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of office equipment such as printers, ten-key, telephone systems, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6-12 months experience prior teller/banking experience is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to sit, bend, squat, twist and lift/carry coin bags weighing up to 50 lbs.
