About the Utility
Tillamook People’s Utility District (PUD) is a customer-owned electric distribution utility providing electric service in Tillamook County and parts of Clatsop and Yamhill Counties in Oregon. Currently we serve about 21,000 customers in an area of 1,125 square miles.
PUDs tailor services to meet the needs of those they serve, and Tillamook PUD is no exception. We offer a wide array of programs for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Programs include weatherization, lighting efficiency, heat pump programs and much more.
Tillamook PUD is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, elected by the voters within its service area. The Board sets rates and policies, with the goal of providing the most benefit to our customers. Tillamook PUD is a unique kind of business. About the Position
The Utility Worker performs manual labor and flagging duties in support of District employees engaged in construction and maintenance projects. The successful applicant will be eligible to bid into the District’s Journeyman Lineman apprenticeship program when a position becomes available.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or G.E.D., and have completed one year of high school algebra with a grade of “C” or better, or equivalent post-high school course or University of Tennessee - NJATC Tech Math Course. Current flagging certification and first aid/CPR card are desirable. At the time of appointment, the applicant must have a valid Oregon driver’s license and must obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License within six months of the date of hire. Hire offer is contingent upon successful passing of a pre-hire DOT drug test, if applicable, and a pre-hire functional/physical capacities test.
Knowledge of:Â Safety rules to avoid injury to self and others.

Skill in:Â The use of hand tools and flagging equipment.

Ability to:Â Communicate effectively orally with other employees and the public; remain calm and use good judgment during confrontational or high-pressure situations that may arise in the course of public contact or unexpected worksite developments; work in a team environment; perform repetitive tasks under general supervision.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work requires a high level of stamina for sustained exertion. Work requires bending, climbing, crawling, stretching, pulling, pushing, standing, twisting, and walking. There is common exposure to dust, pollen, poisonous plants, aggressive animals, traffic, and fumes. There is frequent exposure to situations where there could be injury or loss of life due to moving equipment and/or traffic. The risk can be substantially controlled but not eliminated by safety precautions. Work is performed in adverse weather conditions such as rain, high wind, summer heat, etc.Â
