Position Summary:
This position works under the direction of the Facilities Administrator. The Lead Maintenance Technician oversees and performs maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance activities for residential, commercial, or housing facilities. This position provides technical guidance to maintenance staff, coordinates work assignments, and ensures facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
This position requires compliance with Yakutat Tlingit Tribe’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the position’s regular performance.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and assign maintenance work to technicians and maintenance staff.
- Perform maintenance and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and appliance systems.
- Conduct inspections of facilities, buildings, and grounds.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance schedules and repair activities.
- Troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintenance standards.
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
- Respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.
- Document completed work orders and maintenance activities.
- Train maintenance personnel in proper procedures and safety practices.
- Other operational duties as assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The following demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds; climb ladders, crawl, need full mobility of all limbs able to navigate and work in tight/closed areas. Must not be claustrophobic, acrophobic, or be colorblind. This position requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and working in cramped spaces.
This position requires possible exposure to hazardous work environments and working with high voltage, hazardous machinery, equipment, and materials that require special safety precautions and use of protective clothing or gear, such as masks, gowns, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
May be required to work outside the traditional work schedule.
May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.
This position requires operation of a motor vehicle.

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility or authority.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry and construction tools
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
- Must be able to pass a National Criminal and State background check.
