TITLE: Spanish II Teacher
REPORTS TO: Principal
STATUS: Part-Time, Hourly — Approximately 5–6 Hours per Week
SUMMARY:
Responsible for teaching one high school Spanish II class, developing students’ proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing while strengthening vocabulary, grammar, and cultural understanding. The teacher will provide engaging instruction within a positive, Christ-centered learning environment consistent with the mission of Escondido Adventist Academy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and teach engaging Spanish II lessons aligned with course curriculum and learning objectives.
- Develop student proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and conversational Spanish.
- Assess student learning, maintain accurate attendance and grades, and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment and communicate appropriately with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
- Support EAA’s Christian mission, maintain student confidentiality, and fulfill other reasonable responsibilities directly related to the course.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Teaching credentials and demonstrated proficiency in Spanish and teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret curriculum, handbooks, and other school documents.
- Ability to respond effectively to student or parent inquiries in a timeline manner.
- Ability to articulate verbally and in writing, intervention strategies and tools.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply basic principles of common sense, tack, finesse, empathy and support in working with school staff, students and families.
- Ability to assist with conflict management in a professional manner.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Computer/technology literate
- Ability to work independently
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Maintain confidences
- Must possess skills in working with culturally and ethnically diverse groups.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Required to walk, stand, use of hands and arms, ability to talk, see and hear.
- Occasionally the employee will need to crouch or kneel.
- Work environment usually has moderate noise level.
