What you will be doing

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hospital for Special Surgery, #1 in Orthopedics for the last 16 years, is currently looking for a Full Time Physician Assistant. This position is to support the practice of Dr. Zachary Grabel at HSS Florida, West Palm Beach. Dr. Grabel is a board certified, fellowship-trained spine surgeon. He provides high quality comprehensive spine care, including primary and revision surgery of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. He treats conditions ranging from degenerative spine disorders to complex deformities and spine tumors using a variety of techniques including minimally invasive spine surgery, artificial disc replacement, anterior, posterior and lateral approaches to the spine.
The PA will serve as a primary assistant to the doctor. Duties will include clinical evaluation of patients in the office, counseling patients and their families regarding proposed surgical procedures as well as addressing pre-and post-operative patient questions and concerns, and surgical first assist role in the operating room. The PA will interact closely with office staff, other PAs, patients and families to be an integral part of providing a high level of clinical care and service.

- Direct patient care throughout the acute care episode (emergency room, pre-operative, operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, inpatient units)

- Care coordination between the physician office and facility team

- Care coordination between orthopedic service line and other service lines/departments

- Participate in hospital quality initiatives, improvement projects, and evidence-based practice implementation

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
3+ years as an advanced practice provider

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
5+ years as an advanced practice provider

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Continuously stand/walk or lift/handle/carry material or equipment of moderate weight (20 to 50 lbs).

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoor area with frequent exposure. Located in an indoor area with frequent exposure to mild physical discomfort from dust, fumes, temperature, and noise


HAZARDS OSHA
OSHA Category 1.Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other potentially infectious materials.

EDUCATION REQUIRED
Bachelor's. Graduate of CAAHEP accredited Physician Assistant Training Program

Master's in Nursing with focus on Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Family, or other related specialty

EDUCATION PREFERRED
Master's, Physician Assistant

-OR-

Doctorate in Nursing with focus on Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Family, or other related specialty

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIRED
PA - NCCPA certified. Active Florida License

NP - Board-certified by ANCC/AANP. Active Florida License

BLS and ACLS

Eligibility for hospital privileges/credentialing and DEA registration

SKILLS REQUIRED
- Demonstrated proficiency in acute clinical assessment, evidence-based decision-making, and safe procedure performance

- Strong collaboration, communication, and systems-based problem-solving

- working knowledge of hospital workflows, interdisciplinary care, and discharge planning

- proficiency with EHR documentation, order entry, and clinical decision support tools

- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, equity, and patient experience
