Summary of Job Functions 

Operations 

  • Ensure the integrity, security, availability, accessibility, stability, and performance of company Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and SQL Server databases 
  • Create and maintain detailed SOPs, configuration documentation, and maintenance plans for the database environment 
  • Conduct troubleshooting of issues associated with supported Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and SQL Server databases 
  • Ensure real-time monitoring and alerting of best practice KPIs across all supported database platforms, such as wait stats/query performance, CPU usage, memory usage, disk I/O, and queue lengths 
  • Import and export data to and from the database servers 
  • Provide after-hours production support 
  • Execute production deployment scripts and procedures provided by other teams 
  • Define, maintain, and review audit trails and logs 
  • Ensure all database environments handling Protected Health Information (PHI) remain compliant with HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules, including encryption of data at rest and in transit, access controls, and data masking/de-identification where appropriate 

High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Fail-Over 

  • Create and execute database backup and recovery policies and maintain integrity and reliability of access to information 
  • Create and manage Disaster Recovery of all Production environments using platform-appropriate best practices (e.g., Always On/Log Shipping for SQL Server, streaming replication for PostgreSQL, cross-region replication for Snowflake, replicated tables for ClickHouse) 
  • Perform routine backup and recovery testing, including testing and documenting recovery scenarios 

Development 

  • Work with application/development teams to assist in overall database design, help developers tune queries, assign proper indexes, and aid developers in the creation of triggers and stored procedures 
  • Create tables, views, indexes, database links, views, materialized views, stored procedures, and other database objects as needed; create and assign database roles and privileges 
  • Perform performance tuning tasks across Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and SQL Server 

Planning and management 

  • Manage the storage environments for the databases, including optimal sizing, monitoring space, requesting additional storage, and providing growth statistics, and capacity planning 
  • Assist internal client teams with management of production server systems such as network security teams, data center teams, system security officers 
  • Understand and optimize licensing and consumption models across supported platforms (e.g., SQL Server licensing, Snowflake compute credits) 
  • Onboard new technology including hardware stress testing and software POCs 
  • Participate in audit reviews, penetration tests, and the like 
  • Support compliance efforts related to HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST CSF frameworks, including evidence collection and remediation of database-related findings 
  • Maintain a database platform life-cycle and upgrade roadmap across Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and SQL Server 
  • Support, manage and develop junior team members 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelors’ degree in computer science or technical discipline 
  • 7+ years of experience supporting large, highly available database installations as a DBA, ideally spanning multiple engines (Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, SQL Server) 
  • Solid understanding of relational database design and concepts 
  • An excellent grasp of HA & DR solutions available across Snowflake, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and SQL Server, and experience implementing them (e.g., Always On/FCI/Log Shipping/Mirroring/Availability Groups for SQL Server, streaming replication for PostgreSQL, replicated tables for ClickHouse, multi-cluster warehouses and cross-region replication for Snowflake) 
  • Extensive experience in leading projects such as server migrations, version upgrades, and shared development environment refreshes 
  • A deep understanding of performance tuning methodologies and experience optimizing from DB level objects through server/cloud infrastructure 
  • Experience with ETL and warehouse tools and processes 
  • Experience implementing and monitoring security best practices 
  • Demonstrated experience working within HIPAA-regulated environments, including safeguarding PHI and supporting compliance audits 
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support after-hours production issues 
  • Must be able to pass a background check as a condition of employment, consistent with handling of sensitive health information 
  • Must be able to work on-site in Jupiter FL 

Preferred Skills and Previous Experience 

  • Experience with Azure and/or AWS 
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and healthcare data interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR is a plus 
  • Relevant certifications preferred, such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, SnowPro Core/Advanced, or AWS Certified Database - Specialty 
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, PostgreSQL, and/or ClickHouse, in addition to SQL Server, is highly valued 
  • Experience with both OLAP and OLTP workloads and design implications is preferred, with emphasis on OLAP 
  • Experience with Big Data/NoSQL would be a plus 
  • Exceptional candidates will have experience working with MPP/columnar databases such as Snowflake and ClickHouse in the cloud or in a cluster
