Hawaiʻi Island Community Health Center (HICHC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Dental Hygienist to join our dedicated Dental Services team in Kealakehe. As a Dental Hygienist at HICHC, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality preventive dental care and education to patients of all ages while supporting our Patient-Centered Medical Home model.
What You'll Do
In partnership with our Dental Director and dental providers, you will:
- Perform dental cleanings, scaling, and root planning procedures
- Assess patients' oral health and document findings
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, and healthy habits
- Administer local anesthetics as permitted under Hawaiʻi state regulations
- Take and process dental radiographs
- Assist with dental procedures as needed
- Promote positive patient experiences through compassionate, culturally sensitive care
- Support community-focused initiatives and patient wellness programs
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Current Hawaiʻi Dental Hygienist license
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program
- Strong clinical skills and commitment to patient-centered care
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and diverse populations
- Community health or public health experience
- Bilingual abilities are a plus
