Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for taking patient history and obtaining vital signsÂ
- Perform basic testing or screenings such as: vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testingÂ
- Perform necessary phlebotomy for collection of laboratory samples, if certifiedÂ
- Accurately complete corresponding paperwork/computer work for lab tests ordered on blood, urine, tissue and culture samplesÂ
- Perform point of care testing such as: strep, mono, glucose, influenza, Urine pregnancy, Urinalysis, blood glucose levelsÂ
- Insure sterile technique, instrument cleaning and sterilization, proper use of the autoclaveÂ
- Schedule and coordinate necessary records for ancillary care for patientsÂ
- Assist providers with exams and testing (pelvic exams, eye irrigations and ear irrigations, I & D’s and splinting/ ortho-glass preparationÂ
- Maintain confidentiality with all patient information (HIPAA)Â
- Ensures equipment is in working orderÂ
- Logs laboratory procedures when completed, processes related paperwork using computer equipment as directedÂ
- Maintains examination rooms and stocks necessary medical suppliesÂ
- Performs duties to ensure good patient flowÂ
- Registration duties: explain to patients what insurances that are accepted and those that are out of network as well knowledgeable of all pricing - Properly collect and record payments, complete registration screen in a timely mannerÂ
- Accompany the provider to the bedsideÂ
- Accurately and thoroughly documents the patient’s medical history, physical exam, and proceduresÂ
- Completes transcription as requestedÂ
- Perform tasks to improve provider efficiency during the course of a shiftÂ
- Greet and registers patientsÂ
- Answers and appropriately triages phone callsÂ
- Takes payments for visitsÂ
- Printing, scanning, and faxing reportsÂ
- Other front desk and cleaning responsibilities as assignedÂ
- Document the provider dictated patient history including history of present illness, review of systems, past medical and surgical history, family and social histories, medications and allergiesÂ
- Document physical examination findings and procedures as performed by the providerÂ
- Scribes the results of laboratory and radiographic studies as dictated by the providerÂ
- Scribes the correct time of patient care related activitiesÂ

Minimum Job Qualifications:
- 1+ years’ experience in a Patient Care Tech role or equivalent preferredÂ
- Ability to identify equipment problems and correcting or notifying team leaderÂ
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practicesÂ
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, and familiesÂ
- Able to withstand physical & mental demands: standing, walking, stooping, and bending. Requires ability to move equipment and transfer patients.Â
- Computer knowledge and skills, must be able to register patients on the computer in a timely manner
- Up-to-date on injections, and provide documentation, as per OSHA guidelinesÂ
- Ability to complete and maintain CPR certificationÂ
- Excellent listening and note-taking skillsÂ
- Ability to apply written instructions and standardize work practicesÂ
- Basic computer skills, including the use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR)Â
- Demonstrated ability to type at least 45 words per minuteÂ
- Strong communication skills, including grammatical, spelling and verbalÂ
- Detail-oriented with proven ability to work effectively under conditions requiring accuracyÂ
- Capable of working well on a teamÂ
- Friendly and customer service orientedÂ
- Ability to manage high call volumeÂ
Education Qualifications:
- High School Degree or equivalent requiredÂ
Licensure and Certification Preferences:
- EMT Basic certification preferredÂ
- Medical Assistant certification through one of the preferred following programs:Â
- Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer AssociationÂ
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical TechnologistsÂ
- Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical TechnologistsÂ
