Overview:

Job Functions Summary:

To coordinate and perform the carpentry, plumbing, landscape duties necessary for the construction and

maintenance of Worlds of Fun's facilities and the maintenance of Worlds of Fun's wooden roller coasters.


Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Direct coordinator of Carpenters, and Plumbing Lead. Also, direct supervisor of any Temporary Carpenter(s) hired

  • Through walking and climbing along all areas, inspects all areas of park's wooden roller coasters through visual, tactile and auditory observations to ensure safe and proper operation. Communicates concerns to supervisor, directs others to make and/or, using own judgment, makes necessary repairs. Logs and documents, all safety checks.

  • From blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instruction, perform general carpentry work using a variety of carpenter’s hand and power tools and standard measuring instruments. Makes standard shop computations relating to dimension of work. Select materials necessary for the work.

  • Schedules, trains and supervises all carpenters, plumbers, and landscapers.

  • Through verbal or written communication, bids and orders carpentry, plumbing, and landscaping materials and

    supplies upon approval of Manager of Construction and Facilities.

  • Performs general labor such as crafting materials, building fences and roughing in framing.

  • Manually erects tents and awnings.

  • Assists in preparing carpentry estimates for carpentry maintenance and construction projects.

  • Responds to the requests of the Manager of Construction and Facilities as assigned.

  • Provides guest service according to Six Flags’ standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.

  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Six Flags’ Safety

    guidelines and requirements and report all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.

  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.

  • Meets Six Flags’ attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.

  • Adheres to Six Flags’ Rules of Conduct including specific costume and grooming standards as outlined in Employee

    Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.

  • Other duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to understand English at a level sufficient to receive and perform basic job assignments and instructions.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Year-round outdoor work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Walking and standing on concrete and asphalt for extended periods of time.
  • Climbing to and working at height of 205 feet.
  • Possible exposure to gasoline, galvanizing paint, chlorine, caustic soda, drain cleaners, natural gas and propane.

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

 

  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate not only with management but also with seasonal employees for resolving problems. Communicate with individuals both inside and outside the company.
  • Basic analytical skills necessary to organize workload to establish priorities.
  • Ability to climb and work at a height of 305 feet in the installation or repair of some rides and attractions.
  • Ability to become familiar with and use fall protection equipment. Ability to read, comprehend, follow, and enforce related rules and regulations.
  • Ability to lift and carry 100 pounds in the repair or installation of equipment.
  • Ability to read material (including blueprints and drawings) to interpret and analyze content.
  • Ability to write to explain or describe.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 75% of work activities.
  • Requires ability to operate:

• Standard carpentry and plumbing hand and power tools and equipment

• Unloader

• Hand-held two-way radio

• Tractor

• Park rides

• Telephone

• Hand-held two-way radio

• Manlift/forklift

• Computer

 

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, according to Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial

law.

  • Driver's License

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

  • 5-7 Years Related Experience professional carpentry from framing to finish
  • At Least 21 Years of Age
