220 PERSONAL BANKERS - UNIVERSAL BANKER 1

 

Role:

The Universal Banker I is a foundational retail banking position responsible for delivering exceptional client service while supporting efficient, accurate, and compliant branch operations. This role functions in both teller and personal banking capacities, ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining the Bank’s professional image, and supporting relationship development with clients and the community. The Universal Banker I is expected to uphold Bank policies, regulatory requirements, and service standards while contributing to overall branch performance.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional client service through accurate and timely processing of teller and personal banking transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, account openings, and basic loan applications.
  • Perform teller duties such as cashing checks, issuing official checks and money orders, processing loan and utility payments, and balancing teller drawers daily.
  • Open and maintain various deposit accounts and prepare all required documentation for account setup, maintenance, direct deposits, wires, and related transactions.
  • Respond to client inquiries, research account issues, and resolve errors timely and professionally.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through cross-selling Bank products and services and referring clients to appropriate departments.
  • Ensure compliance with Bank policies, security procedures, and regulatory requirements while safeguarding confidential client information.
  • Prepare accurate transaction records, settlements, and required documentation.
  • Participate in required training and professional development activities.
  • Assist with additional branch operations and duties as assigned.
  • Represent the Bank professionally within the community.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of teller and personal banking procedures, products, and services.
  • Understanding of Federal and State regulations affecting retail banking operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform detailed mathematical and financial transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing to a team environment.
  • Basic sales and relationship-building skills with the ability to identify client needs.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of teller, banker, or equivalent customer service experience, preferably in a retail banking environment.
  • Prior experience in a sales or goal-oriented service environment is preferred.

 

Education/Certifications/Licenses:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) may be required. Notary designation preferred.

  • Professional demeanor and commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and operational needs.
  • Proficiency in using banking systems, teller platforms, and standard office technology.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Primarily branch-based work environment with frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting. Lifting up to approximately 15–20 pounds. Ability to perform repetitive motions associated with transaction processing. Scheduling may include alternating Saturday coverage.
