Job DetailsJob Location: Rockhurst University - Kansas City, MO 64110Rockhurst University's Department of Speech-Language Pathology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology position. This is a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track position to begin January 2027. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching course material in the SLP curriculum at a higher education level, covering pertinent subject matter using lectures, demonstrations, class discussions, practicums, labs, simulations, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery, as well as conducting and mentoring research in areas of expertise. This position is not remote. The position requires strong organizational and technological skills, as data management is a key responsibility. The incumbent must be able to submit student progress reports and attendance in a timely fashion. Collaborative skills are also a necessity, as the incumbent must work with academic and interpersonal partners while also adhering to all Saint Luke鈥檚 College of Nursing and Health Sciences and Rockhurst policies and procedures to properly facilitate student learning. Most importantly, the job must support and contribute to the mission of the department through service commiserate with rank and experience. Accountabilities 1. Prepare course/practicum/lab outlines and syllabi in collaboration with the Program Director and Chair, develop content and lesson plans, and select textbooks and other teaching aids necessary for the instruction of courses/practicums/labs. 2. Conduct instruction of courses in the SLP curriculum at a higher education level utilizing diverse teaching strategies. 3. Teach pertinent subject matter using lectures, demonstrations, class discussions, practicums, labs, simulations, and other appropriate modes of educational delivery in the face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid environment. 4. Effectively collaborate with academic and interprofessional partners to facilitate student learning in various settings, including classroom, clinical lab, and simulation. 5. Conduct research in area(s) of expertise and mentor students in research and service activities. 6. Submits student progress reports and attendance to the Program Director and Academic Advisor and discusses any student needs that may require directed attention or remediation plans. Position Requirements 路 Research doctorate (EdD or PhD) in speech-language pathology 路 At least three years of professional experience 路 Prior experience in teaching and course development for hybrid and online courses 路 Record of scholarly contributions to the SLP field 路 Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in a university setting 路 Alignment with the mission of Rockhurst University 路 ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) 路 State licensure (or eligibility) in speech-language pathology Located in the heart of Kansas City, the Rockhurst CSD Department has a 20-year history of excellence in scholarly, academic, and clinical preparation of students.
