Overview

The Building Manager is responsible for the day-to-day administrative operation of the office of the Principal, the front office and the general Armour Campus.  The Building Manager serves as the liaison between the various offices of Académie Lafayette; the staff; the school community, as a whole; and the outside community, including, but not limited to the neighborhood; prospective students and families; and the business community.


Status of Position

This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is a non exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.


Reporting

The Building Manager reports to their campus/building principal.


Responsibilities

The Building Manager will have a leadership role and provide support for school staff and facilities.


Job Duties include:


Students

  • Student Transportation which may include processing forms and spreadsheets from bus company; processing parental submissions; ensuring students are properly routed and arrive at their proper destinations; managing changes to bussing program through the school year and arranging busses for field trips
  • School Meals which may include entering charges and payments into student information systems; ensuring accuracy of meal count; monitoring student meal accounts; communicating with parents regarding their student’s meal account balances
  • Form Management
  • Maintaining  attendance verifications and reports
  • Coordinate open application process, which may include scheduling appointments and confirming paperwork of incoming students
  • Keep accurate and timely records of classroom lists.


Staff

  • Coordinate building substitute teacher requests
  • Maintain g-mail calendar
  • Create the master schedule
  • Maintain documentation regarding staff absences
  • Purchase office supplies
  • Purchase furniture and classroom supplies, which may include maintaining spreadsheets reflecting individual classroom accounts
  • Completing reimbursement forms
  • Managing funds received, which may include securing funds; logging receipt of funds on spreadsheets; and maintaining accurate expenditure records for the Business Office
  • Support the organization of professional development days and other staff events

 

Building

  • Supervise office and building operations, which may include maintenance requests; scheduling repairs; and coordinating custodial requests
  • Ensure that each classroom is equipped properly to support teaching and learning
  • Coordinate building usage during and after school with internal school organizations and the outside community
  • Work with building principal on building expenditures and obtain approval prior to purchases
  • Coordinate with vendors for building services and school events
  • Tour the building weekly to identify issues and report them to the principal
  • Coordinate school pictures, which may include scheduling and supervising Picture Day process and following up with photographer regarding the orders


Qualifications

  • High school diploma is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills for students, parents, vendors, patrons.
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit team
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to manage high levels of stress, multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to manage privileged information in a confidential manner
  • Mastery of Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
  • Experience with student information systems preferred
  • Proficiency in French language is preferred but not required


Other Requirements

  • Be willing to provide information for background check clearance.
