Senior Project Manager

JOB SUMMARY 

Project Managers should have a proven record of project leadership on EPC projects, either lump sum or reimbursable projects, with a project value between $150MM - $500MM. The project Manager possesses the knowledge and skills to develop project plans, scope of services, schedules, budgets, and execution plans, understands project success criteria, and is the primary interface with the client, and coordinates and leads the engineering team.

The Project Manager will also be involved in various business development activities and will be expected to mentor and develop other employees within their organization.

Project Managers own project execution, project integration, client coordination during execution, project demand forecasting, scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk, change management, revenue, burn, and client delivery performance.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements, client expectations, quality expectations, and Project Governance requirements.
  • Manage scope, cost, schedule, quality, risk, interdisciplinary coordination, third-party coordination, client coordination, project communications, revenue, burn, and margin performance.
  • Understand project-specific terms and conditions, commercial obligations, client expectations, reporting requirements, warranties, guarantees, liability, indemnities, insurance, retainage, and contractual commitments; communicate relevant obligations to the project team.
  • Develop and maintain the project execution strategy, including kickoff documentation, deliverables list, project execution plan as applicable, coordination cadence, client meeting structure, risk register, earned value approach, PCN log, change management process, and reporting cadence.
  • Own the project risk register, mitigation plan, assignment of risk owners, risk due dates, and closure of mitigated risks.
  • Maintain and communicate accurate forecasts, including revenue projections, burn forecasts, labor demand by discipline, schedule milestones, staffing needs, ETC/EAC, and expected completion dates.
  • Modify internal forecasting when project conditions evolve, including scope, schedule, staffing, vacations, named-resource changes, third-party input delays, internal productivity assumptions, and client-driven changes.
  • Lead the multidisciplinary project team and provide timely performance feedback to DMs and Discipline Leads.
  • Engage Project Controls early and keep PC involved in cost, schedule, EV, progress, change, forecast, resource, AR/AP, and margin risks.
  • Proactively manage change orders, PCNs, project memoranda for changes or delays, commercial recovery actions, and client communications related to scope or schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate with Account Managers, Vertical Leads, MOPs, and BU Leadership on client relationship matters, growth opportunities, seller-doer needs, account strategies, and lessons learned.
  • Integrate safety, quality, and risk expectations into kickoff meetings, weekly project meetings, client meetings, and project reporting.
  • Ensure quality issues, rework trends, client comments, late deliverables, checking/review concerns, or discipline performance issues are escalated promptly to the DM, DL, MOP, MOE, Project Controls, and BU Leadership as appropriate.
  • Provide accurate, clear, thorough, and timely reporting to MOP, Project Controls, Account Manager when client/account feedback is relevant, and Business Unit Leadership. For additional project governance expectations, consult with the Project Governance Leadership Team.


OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong commercial acumen to include understanding of key clients and their industry; market influences, financial cycles and product applications etc.
  • Detailed understanding of different business frameworks including joint ventures and consortiums, and their respective risk, profit, loss and governance
  • Experienced working within different contract agreements from lump sum, reimbursable, G-max etc.
  • Demonstrated understanding of local conditions, environment, climate, labor posture and availability
  • Demonstrated ability to work with local contractors and vendors and to maintain good community relations
  • Good understanding of the impact of local laws, regulations, prices, exchange rates, taxation issues, import and export criteria, logistics, etc.
  • Active engagement with external organizations to include professional associations, education institutes, community partners and industry trade associations
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction processes and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software tools such as MS Project, Primavera or similar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Risk Management capabilities.
  • Financial management and resource optimization.
  • Maintain the firm’s reputation for excellence and delivering complex, multi-discipline projects on time, within budget and with quality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
  • 10 to 20+ years of related project experience.
  • Experience in a project leadership role for a lump sum EPC project of more than $150MM or a Reimbursable project of more than $500MM
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of Project Controls
  • Ability to foster and build strong relationships with clients, internal stakeholders and engineers
  • Demonstrated leadership skills to support a project from cradle to grave
