Job DetailsJob Location: KCK Office - Kansas City, KS 66101Position Type: Full TimeTravel Percentage: Up to 25%Job Category: EngineeringThe Project Manager is responsible for building positive relationships with customer project representatives and for planning and executing projects of one or more service types within the Survey Group. Responsibilities include analyzing efficient routing and construction techniques for feasibility, determining the right of way from plan sets and coordinating with team members. The Project Manager 1 collaborates with Survey team members and leaders in other groups to meet timelines and ensure project success. This position travels to project sites outside of the Kansas City area a few times per year. QualificationsEssential Functions Directs and manages overall project development from beginning to end Defines project scope, schedule, cost, resources, quality, and deliverables in collaboration with customers and the Project Manager 2 or Sr. Project Manager Develops full-scale project work flows and appropriate communications documents Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion Determines and assesses need for additional staff and/or consultants and assists with the appropriate recruitments if necessary during the project cycle Sets and continually manages project expectations with team members and other stakeholders Plans, schedules and tracks project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations Determines the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyzes results, and troubleshoots problem areas Utilizes various software in the performance of the work, learns software features, and applies them correctly for speed and efficiency Develops understanding of city/county codes and their implications Utilizes various software to identify and access quality routing options Offers alternative solutions to design when efficacies can be gained, or cost savings can result Proactively manages changes in project scope, communicates that to the customer, and seeks additional funding where appropriate Identifies potential risks and devises contingency plans while keeping stakeholders informed Defines project success criteria and disseminates them to involved parties throughout project life cycle Coaches, mentors, motivates, and supervises project team members and subconsultants, and influences them to be proactive and take accountability for their assigned work Conducts project reviews and creates a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements as appropriate Submits accurate and complete invoices and follows through for timely customer payment Maintains client relationships and establishes new ones through business development activities May be assigned as a supervisor Experience 6+ years of experience working on a variety of survey projects Proven project management skills with foundational understanding of scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, and deliverable management Demonstrated project financial acumen Ability to charter and lead a highly interdependent team of individual contributors Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees 10 years Survey, Computer/GIS/science or engineering background and/or experience preferred   Skills Outstanding work ethic Strong computer skills, Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint Desire to succeed and learn new skills Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written Commitment to excellence and high standards Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions Must have good attention to detail in order to review, enter and manipulate data in a survey database Understands how to convert data from older sources into digital formats Demonstrates a position level appropriate knowledge of cartography and at least some understanding of graphic design   Education Bachelor’s degree is preferred Master’s degree is a plus Licensure is a plus
