Job Description Summary:

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Disease, will provide evidence-based care for patients with a wide range of infectious conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The role includes conducting comprehensive evaluations, guiding diagnostic and therapeutic decisions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, high-quality care. The Assistant Professor will also contribute to the education and training of fellows, residents, medical students, and other learners, and will engage in divisional and departmental scholarly, quality improvement, and academic initiatives.

Job Duties Outlined:

  • Perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty members. Maintain a weekly ID ambulatory clinic with potential for general infectious diseases population and specialist populations based on individual interest and expertise.  Patient care duties may involve training medical students, residents, fellows or other learners.

  • Provide formal educational instruction by consistently attending and presenting at key Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases conferences including but not limited to Core Curriculum, Case Conference, Journal Club, Patient Safety, Clinical Pathological Conferences and Antimicrobial Stewardship. Provide specialty content updates emphasizing pathophysiology, clinical and diagnostics principles and emerging therapeutic interventions. Support other University teaching activities as identified by the Director.

  • Participate in formal scholarship activities including but not limited to mentorship of house staff and student academic projects, conduction and dissemination of scientific discoveries, participation in Divisional and Institutional scholarship activities with an emphasis on specialty areas of expertise and to continually foster an environment of learning and discovery.

Required Qualifications

Certifications/Licenses: 

  • Board certified in Internal Medicine.
  • Infectious Diseases board certification within one year of appointment.
  • Kansas medical license.

Work Experience:

  • Training in Infectious Diseases as demonstrated by application materials.

Work Experience:

  • Experience in Infectious Diseases clinical patient care and research.
