As a Software Engineer Specialist within our Investment Management Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and enhancing applications that support our portfolio management, risk, and research operations. This position is at the intersection of finance and technology and offers cutting edge tools to solve complex investment challenges. You will collaborate closely with investment professionals, product owners, and other technologists to design, build, and implement systems to improve our portfolio research and risk capabilities. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri (Plaza area) office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future. Responsibilities include building tools to deliver practical insights and operational efficiency, collaborating with Product Owners/Partners to deliver value to ACI Clients, automating manual processes for productivity improvements and data consistency, participating in Software Engineering solution development and continuous delivery (CI/CD), preparing technical design and requirements to support secure and scalable software development with quality results, identifying innovative ideas and building consensus for adoption and execution, and participating in solving complex technology/software problems including root cause analysis and resolution. Rotating On-call support for critical business functions and processes is also required. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (preferable), Finance or Business, at least 3 years work experience in a development role (Java/Python), experience with Spring Boot – Java 8, Maven, Jenkins, SVN, GIT, Postman/Newman, solid understanding of SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases, broad knowledge of software engineering and testing practices & methodologies, knowledge/experience with Agile/SAFE practices, experience with developing in Cloud environment and good knowledge of cloud/AWS infrastructure, and demonstration of American Century Investments Winning Behaviors: Client Focused, Courageous and Accountable, Collaborative, Curious and Adaptable, Competitively Driven. Preferred assets include experience with R/VBA/Python ML packages, Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P and/or State Street software, experience at a Financial Services / Asset Management firm, and experience using OpenShift, Kubernetes, and cloud DevOps.
