Job Statement:  Under the general supervision of the Facility Maintenance Manager, this position performs a variety of janitorial related tasks to ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of HTIC’s common areas. This position provides cleaning assistance to the Maintenance Department, by working on cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms and refilling bathroom related supplies, emptying trash receptacles, and wipe down/light sweeping of common areas of on campus buildings. This job related tasks contribute to the enhancement of a safe and comfortable environment that enhances student-learning environment.

 Essential Functions:

·        Clean common areas and offices of Building A. Clean reference to: disinfecting and wiping down of furniture surfaces (tables and chairs) found in common areas and classrooms.

·        Clean spills, soiled areas, and attend to other unnatural conditions that may affect the tiles and carpets of common areas and classrooms.

·        Occasionally, he/she would need to be able to vacuum, light dusting, and sweeping of common areas and classrooms. 

·        Ensure that the Building B dormitory students’ trash receptacles have been emptied, clean and disinfect bathrooms (to include bathroom stalls and urinals), and ensure that the common areas are kept clean and tidy (kitchen area and 2nd floor lounge area).

·        Ensure proper use of equipment to clean areas and ensure that the work areas are hazard free.

·        Ensure that cleaning equipment and paper supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, toilet seat covers) are properly stored away.

·        Implement and practice Universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety, and sanitization procedures and practices.

·        Promptly report any hazardous conditions and broken equipment to the Facility Maintenance Manager.

·        Assist in ordering inventory for: paper supplies and cleaning solutions that relate to cleaning the common areas and classrooms.

·        Participate in administrative meetings, as necessary.

·        Perform other related duties as assigned by the Facility Maintenance Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

·        High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

·        Familiar in calculating basic math (including equations in addition, subtraction, multiply, and divide).

·        Able to follow all educational institution, safety, and security policies and procedures. Ensure that he/she is able to work in a safe and conscientious manner.

·        Must be able to accommodate a flexible schedule that includes occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays.

·        Must be able to provide customer service towards students and co-workers with professionalism.

Desired Qualifications:

·        Previous housekeeping experience in an educational setting, preferred.

·        First Aid/CPR certification, preferred.

Schedule:

Shift #1: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-11:30 AM or

Shift #2: Monday-Friday, 12:30 a.m.- 4:30 PM

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

·        Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time.

·        Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. 

·        Required to talk and hear.

·        Occasionally required to climb or balance.

·        Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

·        Must regularly lift, push, pull and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. 

·        Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
