The Clay County Road & Bridge department has openings on our operations staff. The operations staff is responsible for keeping our local roads safe and well-maintained. This will include duties such as: 

  • Pothole and road repairs
  • Snow and ice removal
  • Roadside management, such as cutting brush, clearing brush, and removing litter and debris 
  • Clearing debris from culverts, ditches, and basins to prevent flooding
  • Bridge and guardrail repairs

The team works a 4-day work week, Monday thru Thursday from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm, and are on call for emergency response when required.

 

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, a Class A or B CDL, and can obtain Tanker and HazMat endorsements within 6 months of employment. The candidate will also need to be team player who can adapt quickly and manage time effectively.

 

The employee will receive an annual salary along with a benefits package that includes two defined benefit retirement plans fully funded by the County and a deferred-compensation plan with a match on the first 4% contributed. We also offer three medical plans including two high deductible plans, dental, vision, two flexible spending accounts, and supplemental plans. Full-time employees are also offered life insurance (2X annual salary) paid by the County, paid vacation/sick leave, 14 paid holidays, LTD and tuition reimbursement
