Position Overview

CMM Programmer writes and modifies programs using Calypso for Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to inspect manufactured parts and ensure they meet specifications, requiring expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T, CAD/CAM software, and measurement tools. Key responsibilities include developing CMM programs, conducting quality control inspections, analyzing measurement data, maintaining records, and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to solve quality issues.

Job Responsibilities

    • Create and document setups for components on the CMM that can be easily understood and repeated by others.
    • Create, modify, and optimize programs using Calypso CMM software to measure parts in accordance with the drawing.
    • Train incoming employees how to program/operate the CMM.
    • Comply with safe work practices; understanding work injury procedures, workers comp, and OSHA standards
    • Provide support to the shop floor to uphold SilencerCo's quality standards of all products.
    • Analyze and summarize measurement data collected by the CMM to verify part accuracy and identify any non-conformities.
    • Schedule and execute CMM maintenance and Cleaning.
    • Work closely with engineering, production, and other departments to interpret specifications, troubleshoot quality problems, and provide input for design improvements.
    • Solid foundation in shop math, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, as well as hands-on experience with precision measurement tools like calipers and micrometers

  • Maintain the CMM with daily, monthly, and yearly routine cleaning and calibration.
  • Create repeatable and fully autonomous CMM Programs.

Job Qualifications (Required)

  • Proficient in programming using Calypso Software
  • 3+ years of experience programming CMM's
  • High school diploma required
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as-needed

Job Qualifications (Preferred)

    • Has a deep understanding of SilencerCo Product Line.
    • Proficient in programming using PC-DMIS Software.
    • Ability to understand, teach, and inspire others to follow QA standards to uphold SilencerCo's high quality standards.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to stay extremely organized in a fast moving environment.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to apply skills both internally and externally.
    • Ability to replicate CMM inspection using manual inspection tools and setup equipment.
    • Proficiency in Google Suite/Microsoft Office.
    • Proficiency with Solidworks.
    • Experience reading and interpreting prints per ASME Y 14.5.
    • A strong functional understanding of GD&T and why it is crucial for programming accurate measurements.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve manufacturing and quality issues.
    • Comfortable with ambiguity and change.

 

  • Process improvement focus required.

 

  • Six Sigma Experience Preferred.
  • Self motivated, must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
