Keene State College is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and skilled Assistant Cheerleading Coach to support the Head Coach in leading a positive, safe, and competitive cheer program. The Assistant Coach will help plan and facilitate practices, support athlete development, assist with national team choreography, and handle administrative responsibilities. This position requires regular attendance at home basketball games, occasional travel, and a commitment to fostering team spirit and sportsmanship within the Keene State community. Required to travel to NCA Collegiate Nationals in April.

Duties/Responsibilities

Coaching & Athlete Development (33%)

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting cheer practices, conditioning sessions, and skill-building activities.

  • Provide instruction in stunting, tumbling, choreography, safety techniques, and game-day performance routines.

  • Support athletes in achieving skill progression while promoting a positive team culture and strong work ethic.

  • Help ensure compliance with all safety guidelines, college policies, and governing cheer regulations.

Game-Day & Event Responsibilities (33%)

  • Attend and support all scheduled home basketball games and designated athletic events.

  • Assist with game-day performances, sideline coordination, and team spirit activities.

  • Help organize team presence at campus events, community engagements, and promotional activities.

Administrative & Program Support (33%)

  • Assist with program logistics, including scheduling, roster management, communication updates, and equipment inventory.

  • Help track athlete attendance, performance, and progression.

  • Support recruitment efforts by attending tryouts, evaluating prospects, and helping maintain a welcoming team environment.

  • Communicate effectively with athletes, families, staff, and the Athletics Department.

Requirements

Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:

  • Previous cheerleading experience (sideline, competitive, or college-level).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of cheer technique, safety standards, and routine development.

  • Solid organizational and administrative skills, including communication and record-keeping.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed for practices and games.

  • Commitment to student-athlete well-being, inclusion, and positive team leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior collegiate coaching experience.

  • Experience in choreography, tumbling instruction, or athletic event coordination.

Compensation Pay Range:
