Keep Keizer's Water Moving. Keep Customers Connected.
Are you a hands-on problem solver who enjoys working outdoors, serving the public, and doing work that makes a difference every day? The City of Keizer is looking for a Utility Field Specialist to join our Water Division and help connect customers to essential water services, from setting up new service to responding to water system needs in the field.
Â
This position combines fieldwork, customer service, water system knowledge, technology, safety, and problem-solving. You'll work directly with customers, investigate water-use concerns, perform utility locates, maintain and install meters, support the City's cross-connection program, and help protect the safety and reliability of our water system.
Â
If you enjoy a job where no two days are exactly alike—and where your work has a direct impact on the community—you'll want to take a closer look.
About the Role
As a Utility Field Specialist, you'll serve as an important field connection between the City's Water Division, Utility Billing staff, and our water customers. You'll spend much of your time in the field investigating water-use concerns, responding to customer needs, maintaining water meters and infrastructure, and supporting essential water programs.
Â
You'll perform water service turn-ons and turn-offs, meter reads, leak investigations, utility locates, and cross-connection inspections. You'll also coordinate the Division's meter and safety programs, use mobile GIS and asset management technology to document water system assets, and help educate customers and the community about water safety and conservation.
Â
This is a hands-on position with a broad range of responsibilities. You'll work independently, make decisions in the field, interact directly with the public, and collaborate with Water Division and Public Works staff.
Â
The position also participates in a rotational emergency on-call program and provides backup support for other Water Division functions.
Why You'll Love This Job
Every Day Is Different
You'll split your time between fieldwork, customer service, inspections, problem-solving, program coordination, and water system support. Your work won't be confined to a desk—or limited to doing the same task every day.
Â
Make a Direct Impact
The work you do helps ensure Keizer customers receive reliable water service and helps protect the safety and integrity of the City's non-chlorinated water system.
Â
Take Ownership
This position provides the opportunity to independently investigate water-use concerns, identify problems in the field, make appropriate decisions, and coordinate solutions.
Â
Be Part of a Team That Values Safety
You'll play an active role in the Public Works safety program, including leading safety briefings, participating on the Safety Committee, and conducting safety inspections.
Â
Serve Your Community for a Community That Cares
From helping a customer understand an unexpected water bill to educating community members about backflow prevention and water quality, you'll see the impact of your work firsthand. Keizer is recognized for being a welcoming community with a great volunteer spirit, family‑friendly neighborhoods, and easy access to the outdoor recreation Oregon is loved for all year long.
