This role ensures that all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems are properly maintained in compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body standards. The manager directs daily facility operations, coordinates preventive and corrective maintenance activities, and helps maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. In addition, the position provides leadership to environmental services staff, fostering teamwork, accountability, and consistent service standards that support high-quality service delivery and a positive patient experience across the organization. Key Responsibilities: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules, service requests, and contracted work to minimize downtime and maintain efficient facility operations. Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and records required for life safety, regulatory surveys, and internal audits. Lead and support environmental services staff in daily workflow, ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and proper appearance of the facility’s interior and exterior areas. Monitor facility conditions, respond to maintenance concerns, and collaborate with hospital leadership to address operational needs and improvement opportunities. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, emergency preparedness standards, and infection prevention practices within all plant and environmental operations. QualificationsLicenses and Certifications Required: None Educational Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent preferred Experience Requirements: Experience with building management, supervisory experience, and ability to deal with others tactfully preferred. Special Skills or Training Requirements: Basic construction knowledge and ability Physical Requirements: The Plant Operations Manager is frequently required to stand, walk, climb, bend, kneel, and reach while inspecting equipment, performing repairs, and moving throughout the facility and grounds. The role involves lifting, carrying, and pushing tools, supplies, ladders, and equipment of varying weights, as well as operating hand and power tools. Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity are necessary for safely troubleshooting systems, reading diagrams and gauges, and communicating with staff and contractors. Environmental Requirements: The Plant Operations Manager works in a hospital environment, mechanical rooms, rooftop areas, and outdoor settings, with routine exposure to noise, vibration, temperature variations, and mechanical hazards.
