About the Role:
The Scan Technician plays a critical role in the accurate, high-volume digitization of paper records, microfilm, and microfiche for DSS's federal government clients. This position operates production scanning equipment to convert documents and media into indexed digital files, meeting daily production targets and quality standards while maintaining the confidentiality and chain-of-custody required for sensitive government records.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of scanning or data-entry experience in a high-volume production environment
  • Basic computer proficiency, including file management and scanning software
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform repetitive, detail-intensive tasks while maintaining throughput for a full shift
  • Ability to follow instructions and maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must be able to pass a federal background investigation/suitability screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with microfilm or microfiche conversion
  • Familiarity with government or federal contractor work environments
  • Basic troubleshooting experience with scanning hardware/software
  • Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain production scanning equipment to digitize paper documents, microfilm, and microfiche accurately
  • Prepare materials for scanning — organizing, sorting, removing staples/bindings as needed
  • Perform quality control checks on scanned images for clarity, completeness, and correct formatting
  • Index and categorize scanned files in designated software for efficient retrieval
  • Maintain digital and physical filing systems per company and federal data-security standards
  • Troubleshoot minor technical issues with scanning hardware and software
  • Meet daily production quotas and project deadlines as part of a team
  • Adhere to confidentiality and chain-of-custody protocols when handling sensitive government records
