What are we looking for in a Substance Use Disorder Professional/Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee? The Substance Use Disorder Professional provides support, intake clinical assessments, diagnostic formulations, and initial treatment planning for a variety of populations. Provides substance use disorder prevention intervention, treatment and assistance in case management services. The Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee provides substance use disorder prevention intervention, treatment and assistance in case management services. As services are provided under the supervision of a Substance Use Disorder Professional approved supervisor.   Pay Range: SUDPT Pay Scale: $23.43 - $35.15 SUDP Pay Scale: $25.83 - $38.75 Schedule: Sunday to Wednesday -  7 AM to 6 PM Wednesday to Saturday – 7 AM to 6 PM Sunday to Thursday - 8 AM to 5 PM Tuesday to Saturday - 8 AM to 5 PM Substance Use Disorder Professional duties may include: BEHAVIORAL HEALTH GROUPS: • Conducts behavioral health groups following Comprehensive Healthcare’s guidelines and policies. • Leads groups using effective group facilitation skills that promote participation and interaction among group members. • Utilizes group process to develop insight, practice skills, and motivate client for change. • Follows lesson plan or curriculum and connects presented material to individual treatment plan goals. CASE MANAGEMENT: • Provides a combination of direct service and service coordination, with internal and external resources, to assist the client with achieving identified treatment plan goals. • Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of community services and resources (including peer, natural, and community supports) and actively encourages individuals to access them. • Advocates for the client when appropriate to attain services and benefits to further recovery goals. CHILDREN, YOUTH and YOUNG ADULT SERVICES: • Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of development in children, youth and young adults. • Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge and understanding of behavioral health problems in children, youth and young adults. • Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of and ability to work with issues of confidentiality, consent and capacity. • Demonstrates the ability to collaborate and coordinate with family, parents, caregivers and community and natural supports. • Communicates effectively with children and youth of differing ages and developmental levels. CRISIS EVALUATION/INTERVENTION: • Utilizes appropriate crisis intervention techniques for client stabilization. • Accurately screens for risk to self, others, property and the presence of grave disability and makes appropriate referrals. • Documents and reports and/or notifies as required by law. • Applies QPRT (Question, Persuade, Refer or Treat) principles in assessing risk and in safety and treatment planning. • Develops and documents appropriate safety plans. GERIATRIC SERVICES: • Demonstrates and utilizes knowledge of normal aging process and age related changes. • Demonstrates an understanding of neurocognitive disorders and their impacts on functioning. • Demonstrates awareness of how medical issues can affect mental status.   SERVICE NOTES: • Completes all required service notes according to Comprehensive Healthcare’s guidelines, policies and procedures regarding format, content and timeliness. • Language used in service notes is respectful, clear, descriptive, concise and client-centered. • Service notes accurately depict treatment modalities and interventions provided within the clinician’s scope of practice and according to treatment plan. • Service notes accurately reflect and depict client status and progress consistent with assessment and reassessment data, problem statements and treatment plan goals and objectives. SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER ASSESSMENT: • Completes all substance use disorder (SUD) assessments following Comprehensive Healthcare’s guidelines and policies for content, format, and timeliness. • Obtains appropriate biopsychosocial information during the assessment, and gathers a substance use history, including prescribed and recreational substances, as well as consequences associated with the progression of substance use. • Establishes rapport with clients and obtains information that document the client’s strengths, needs, abilities and preferences. • Collects corroborative information from collateral sources regarding the client’s substance use and co-occurring history to supplement and clarify the use history provided, and reasons for referral. • Uses motivational interviewing skills, and other therapeutic techniques, to promote early treatment engagement and increase motivation to follow through on treatment recommendations. • Interprets clinical data to substantiate any diagnoses of substance use disorders, establish medical necessity, and identify the appropriate ASAM level of care recommendation. SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER TREATMENT: • Provides interventions to assist in the reduction of substance use, including outreach, education, individual, group, and family counseling, as well as brief solution-focused interventions to address social and health risk factors, identify potential relapse triggers, enhance relapse prevention skills, and provide ongoing assessment of needs. • Facilitates counseling services focused on addressing barriers to recovery, providing education and skills building, attaining recovery goals, as well as motivating and coaching for the reduction of substance use. • Uses motivational interviewing and other recovery oriented strategies to assist an individual in progressing through the stages of change to meet identified goals. • Delivers services using an integrated approach to address co-occurring behavioral health or medical concerns, including coordinating care and offering referrals for additional services when appropriate. SYMPTOM & MEDICATION RESPONSE MONITORING • Conducts and documents ongoing assessment of client symptoms and their response to prescribed medications. • Provides support and education to encourage clients to take medications as prescribed. • Promotes illness self-management skills to assist clients with medication adherence, identifying warning signs and symptoms, and symptom management skills. • Monitors medication side effects and facilitates access to, and communication with, medical staff as needed. TREATMENT PLANNING: • Completes all required treatment plans following Comprehensive Healthcare’s guidelines and polices for content, format and timeliness. • Applies assessment, evaluation and reassessment data to the formulation of treatment plans. • Supports recovery principles by incorporating the individual’s and their family’s (when applicable) strengths, barriers and needs into the plan components. • Documents problem statements and treatment goals/objectives/ discharge plan that are written in clear and understandable language and includes client’s own voice. • Formulates measurable, achievable goals and objectives within the scope of treatment provided in collaboration with the client. • Describes clinical modalities/interventions that are reasonable and provided according to applicable Comprehensive Healthcare’s protocols. • Reassess treatment effectiveness and adapts treatment plan as needed in collaboration with the individual client.
