Job Title: Truck Driver (Level 1)

POSITION OVERVIEW
Truck Driver Level 1 position is responsible for transporting materials to and from specified destinations by driving semi-trucks (interstate) with a capacity of four tons (+) and more than six wheels. Assists in the warehouse.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service always, while being sensitive to their needs.Â
- Adheres to and supports safe work practices and Commercial Tire’s safety guidelines and standard
- Drives truck; loads and unloads truck
- Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations.
- Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.Â
- Prepares receipts for load(s) picked up.Â
- Operates and maintains company vehicle to CT standards, including regular maintenance; cleanliness; fueling & tracking fuel receipts; insurance coverage, general upkeep, inspections, registration, etc. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Performs emergency roadside work/repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains and spark plugs.Â
- May position blocks and tie rope around items to secure cargo during transit.Â
- If doing long-haul, will be on overnight tripsÂ
Warehouse Responsibilities – Secondary duties and responsibilities
- Receives inbound freight within warehouse, unloads freight on truck and checks off orders. Maintains high accuracy level in check-off procedures.Â
- Reads work orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.Â
- Uses computer software to assist with locating types of tires by manufacturer; transfers inventory toÂ
 stores; closes out transfer requests and bills the appropriate location. - Assists with requests received from store personnel or outside customersÂ
- Operates forklift and other vehicles, if necessary.Â
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - required
- Valid Class A CDL and an excellent driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent - preferred
- Forklift certification within (30) days of job entry date
- 1 year commercial driving experience or graduate of Technical Driving SchoolÂ
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
