Electrical (Instrument Mechanic)

The Electrical (Instrument Mechanic) will be responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures to make sure the plant is running efficiently and in a safe manner.  The incumbent will be qualified in the primary skill.  They will troubleshoot, apply journeyman skills, experience, and general knowledge of theory in a wide range of electrical and maintenance tasks.  This position is located in the Kenova, WV. facility.

Essential Job Responsibilities & Duties

• Applies journeyman skills, experience, and general knowledge of theory to a wide range of tasks including installation of conduit, pulling wire, replacement of motors, lights, motor starters, circuit breakers, etc…
• Troubleshoots
• Uses expertise for emergency repairs and provides preventative and cost-effective repairs
• May consult with engineers and vendors
• Performs instrument calibrations, field repairs to control valves, analyzers, PLC’s, etc…
• Assists other mechanics in carrying out work outside of principal skill
• Use all shop machinery and hand tools
• RCRA job duties:  May clean up small spills
• Maintain training required by OSHA, RCRA, TSCA, DOT, etc…
• Performs high voltage work

Physical Demands

• Must be able to climb ladders and stairways on a routine basis
• Must be able to do overhead work
• Exposure to outside temperatures, noise, dirt and etc…
• Lifting requirement:  Up to the maximum safety recommended 50 pounds

Work Environment

The work environment is in a manufacturing facility, where exposed to chemical processing, outdoor work environment, moving mechanical parts, forklifts, moderate to loud noise level, dust and fumes.  While working, personal protective equipment is required.  This includes clothing, gloves, goggles, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, respirator, fall protection, disposable coverall suits, arc flash protection, etc…

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Vocational training or college class work in electricity, electrical installation, industrial electronics, industrial instrumentation, etc...
• Must be able to work overtime
• Knowledgeable in drafting/mechanical drawings for electrical wiring diagrams
• Manufacturing plant experience preferred
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work as a team member
• Good documentation practices
• General computer skills
• ISA certification is preferred
• WV Electrician’s license is required
• Must be able to complete and pass written and practical test for E/I Mechanic
