Position Description

The Senior Data Analyst will support data extraction, analysis, and presentation across all departments, reporting primarily to Accounting Department. This role is critical to establishing a formal reporting process, improving data structure and integrity, and supporting strategic decision-making (especially as the credit union expands with new branches, products, and initiatives).

The position is located at Kensington, MD headquarters. The role is hybrid, in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support all departments by extracting, analyzing, and reporting data (including reporting & dashboard creation).
  • Take unstructured data and convert it into structured, usable datasets.
  • Perform reconciliations within systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Improve and help establish a standardized reporting process across the credit union.
  • Initial focus will be ad-hoc analysis to understand data mechanics and drivers; over time, transition ad-hoc work into recurring, automated reporting.
  • Periodically revisit data structures (potentially quarterly) to ensure alignment with evolving needs.
  • Provide insights to support initiatives, generate dashboards and reports that share insights and trends to support executive decision-making.
  • Support metrics related to low-income designation and other regulatory or strategic initiatives.
  • Support implementation of a new hosting system
  • Must translate technical findings into digestible information.
  • Additional projects and duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, or related field required.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing, Excel, MS Office, Power BI, Data Analytics/Visualization, SQL.
  • 4-6 years of experience with business analysis and reporting tools.
  • Experience with requirements gathering, exploratory data analysis, definition of metrics, data visualization, and strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify anomalies within extensive datasets, recognize trends, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, with close attention to detail and in a timely manner
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-department teams
  • Excellent judgment and ability to analyze issues quickly and independently and to take appropriate action with minimal supervision.
  • Banking or credit union experience is strongly preferred, but open to other industries
  • Experience with nCino or similar financial services dashboarding and reporting platforms preferred.
