JOB SUMMARY:


The Clinician is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based clinical services across High Watch Recovery Center’s continuum of care, including Detox, Residential, PHP, and IOP levels of treatment. This role provides direct guest care through assessments, individual and group counseling, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and care coordination. Clinicians ensure a therapeutic environment grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered, and recovery-oriented practices reflective of High Watch’s mission and treatment philosophy. The Clinician collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary team to support safe, effective, and integrated care and maintains compliance with all regulatory, documentation, and quality standards.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Clinical Services/Direct Care

 

  • Provide weekly individual and group counseling utilizing evidence-based, clinically appropriate interventions consistent with level of care.
  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, mental status evaluations, and SI/HI screenings to determine treatment needs and guide individualized care.
  • Communicate with families weekly and provide one family session per treatment episode.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with guests and the clinical team.
  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational groups, including those aligned with 12-Step philosophy, relapse prevention, life skills, health and wellness, and co-occurring disorder support.
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment, ensuring immediate and appropriate response to guests in crisis, including but not limited to psychiatric/behavioral concerns and AMA blocking.
  • Communicate with referral sources as clinically/administratively needed.  
  • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning, case review, and coordination to ensure integrated, holistic treatment (medical/psychiatric, continuing care, programming, etc.). 

 

Documentation & Compliance 

  • Complete all required clinical documentation in accordance with state, federal, accreditation, and organizational standards.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records including BPS and SI/HI assessments, progress and group notes, treatment plans, family and referral communication, and discharge documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with Joint Commission, DMHAS, and other regulatory bodies as applicable.

 

Quality Assurance and Data Informed Practice 

  • Participate in routine chart audits, supervision, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize guest outcome tools (e.g., GAD-7, PHQ-9, BAM, BARC-10) to inform clinical decision-making and adjust treatment approaches as appropriate.
  • Partner with supervisors to support continuous improvement of clinical services, documentation quality, and treatment outcomes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related behavioral health field required.
  • Eligible for or currently holding a Connecticut clinical license (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LMSW, LCDC, or other appropriate credential).  Licensure required within an organizationally approved timeframe if not held at hire.  Licensure needs to be maintained throughout employment period.  
  • Experience providing clinical services to individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatment modalities, crisis intervention strategies, and clinical best practices.
  • Ability to prepare, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and ability to manage clinical workflow and documentation efficiently.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, professional boundaries, confidentiality, and culturally responsive care.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems and data-driven clinical decision-making.
  • Experience in 12-Step philosophy preferred.

 The physical demands and work environment require walking, bending, standing, climbing stairs, driving, and operating standard office equipment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made for individuals with disabilities.
