Job Description
A warehouse Coordinator /runner assists with various tasks to support shipbuilding, maintenance, and repair activities. This position is responsible for the rapid movement of parts, tools, and materials between storage areas and the repair sites (vessels, dry docks, and piers).

Responsibilities:
Logistics/Running:
Transporting tools and materials from the warehouse to the waterfront, dry dock, or directly aboard vessels, often using forklifts, flatbed trucks, or other company vehicles.
Material Handling:
Receiving incoming materials, verifying against packing slips, and storing them in designated warehouse locations. Loading and unloading materials, equipment, and supplies from trucks, containers, and other storage areas. This may involve using hand trucks, dollies, or forklifts.
Work Area Preparation:
Cleaning and preparing work areas, including removing debris, setting up equipment, and ensuring a safe environment for workers.
Assisting with Equipment:
Helping skilled tradespeople with the maintenance, setup and operation of tools and machinery, such as welders, grinders, and other equipment used in ship construction or repair.
Material Staging:
Sorting, organizing, and storing materials in designated areas within the shipyard, ensuring they are readily available for use.
General Labor:
Performing various manual labor tasks, such as sweeping, painting, and other tasks as needed to support the overall warehouse or shipyard operations.
Inventory Management:
Assisting with inventory control by counting and organizing materials and reporting any discrepancies as well as ordering material as needed.
Warehouse Maintenance:
Keeping warehouse, loading docks, and storage bays clean, organized, and safe.

Skills and Qualifications:
Basic Tool Operation:
Familiarity with basic hand and power tools, and the ability to use them safely and effectively.
Proficient with Microsoft Office
Ability to operate a forklift
Â
Teamwork:
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and skilled tradespeople.
Â
Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Â
Mechanical Aptitude (Beneficial):
A basic understanding of mechanical principles and the ability to learn new skills related to shipyard operations.
Â
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent is often required, and some employers may prefer candidates with prior experience in a shipyard or similar environment.

Understanding and commitment to following safety procedures and regulations.
Safety Compliance:
Following all safety procedures and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry the same for short distances and up and down stairs and steep inclines
- The work requires long periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.
