Job Specifications:
Education:
Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum that is approved by the Accredidation Council of Occupational Therapy Education.
Experience:
One year inpatient acute hospital experience as a certified Occupational Therapist.
License and Certifications:
Occupational Therapist Required at hire
Basic Life Support Required within 90 days of hire
Integrative Agitation Management (IAM) Required within 30 days of hire
Prerequisite Skills:
Ability to establish rapport, counsel objectively and in a positive manner, explain test results and therapy plans in a manner consistent with the families, staff’s and/or client’s communication ability. Must have knowledge of all aspects of physical disabilities Occupational Therapy, and the social, emotional and physiological effects of illness and injury.

Employees in this position have access to protected health information. The protected health information a person in this position can access includes demographics, date of service, insurance/billing, medical record summary information, and all other information that may be contained in patient records. This position requires patient health information to perform the functions outlined as part of this position description.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Essential (Not Modifiable)
Billable patient contact of at least 67%.
Perform evaluation of functional performance of inpatients and establishes a plan of treatment consistent with occupational therapy Scope of Practice, involving the patient and his/her family in the design, goals and plan of treatment
Evaluates effectiveness and outcomes of occupational therapy interventions including the patient’s and family’s response to therapeutic interventions
Works proactively with health care team (nursing, dietary, PT, speech pathology, physicians, etc) to continually assess patient’s discharge planning needs and ensure timely discharge of patient
Functions independently in performing occupational therapy treatments, which may include, but are not limited to, retraining in self-care, neuro re-education, functional mobility, upper extremity function, home safety, splinting and visual-perception, cognitive retraining activities
Identifies a patient and significant other’s specific learning needs and plans appropriate teaching interventions
Attend staff meetings and inservices as appropriate
Provide information to Occupational Therapy Supervisor about complicated patient situations.

Individual pay is set by skills, experience, qualifications, and internal/market equity, consistent with MarinHealth’s compensation philosophy.
