Legacy is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician for a 168-unit market rate property in Grand Rapids, Michigan. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing general maintenance and repair duties. The ideal candidate will have experience with plumbing, electrical, structural, appliance repair, drywall, and painting. This position requires the ability to work different shifts, including on-call, emergencies, weekends, holidays, and extended hours outdoors in different weather conditions. The Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for snow removal including salting, plowing, snow blowing, and shoveling. Teamwork with the ability to work within different departments and with other staff is necessary to be successful. 


Requirements: 

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One or more years of related experience in apartment maintenance at market rate properties preferred
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal building codes
  • Experience with unit turns, drywall repairs, and painting are essential
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Excellent attention to detail when turning apartment homes
  • Customer Service attitude in all interactions with staff and residents
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform tasks as requested
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
  • HVAC Certification is a plus
  • Some landscaping knowledge is a plus 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Ability to work occasional weekends and/or evenings (on call) required
