Maintenance Electrician – Oil & Gas

Location: Kermit, TX
Work Schedule: 7 Days On / 7 Days Off

Position Summary

Quality Process Services (QPS) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to support oil and gas production operations in the Kermit, Texas area. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and commissioning electrical equipment used in production facilities while working safely in a field environment.

The ideal candidate has strong oilfield electrical maintenance experience, can work independently, and is comfortable troubleshooting a wide variety of production equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective electrical maintenance
  • Install and replace motors, VFDs, MCC components, relays, contactors, overloads, transformers, disconnects, and electrical panels
  • Maintain and troubleshoot:
    • Pumps
    • Air Compressors
    • Vapor Recovery Units (VRUs)
    • LACT Units
    • Saltwater Disposal (SWD) facilities
    • Generators
    • Facility lighting
    • Heat trace systems
  • Support medium-voltage equipment associated with ESP and gas lift operations
  • Read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation
  • Troubleshoot 4–20 mA instrumentation loops, PLC field signals, and motor control circuits
  • Use multimeters, megohmmeters, and other electrical testing equipment
  • Assist with equipment startups and commissioning
  • Respond to electrical callouts during scheduled work rotation
  • Complete SAP work orders, maintenance documentation, and communicate equipment status with operations and maintenance teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of industrial electrical maintenance experience
  • Previous oilfield electrical experience is required
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems up to 480V
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with:
    • Motors
    • VFDs
    • MCCs
    • Motor starters
    • Contactors
    • Relays
    • Overloads
    • Oilfield production equipment
  • Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical control circuits, 4–20 mA circuits, and PLC-related field wiring
  • Experience working around medium-voltage equipment is preferred
  • Texas Journeyman Electrician License preferred. Candidates not currently licensed must be willing and eligible to obtain the license within one year.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with operations and maintenance personnel
