Reporting to the Program Manager, the Accountant prepares and reviews financial records to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance, assess financial operations, and support Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives. 

 

This is a contingent position expected to be located in Keyport, WA. The pay range for the position will be provided at the time the position is no longer contingent. 

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and examine financial records to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Ensure financial records comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Assess financial operations and processes to identify areas for improvement.

  • Support compliance with Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) initiatives.

  • Assist with audits and financial reviews by providing documentation and explanations.

  • Reconcile accounts, analyze variances, and prepare financial reports as needed.

  • Identify and help resolve accounting discrepancies or errors.

  • Bid and proposal support if requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in accounting, business, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Typically requires one to two (1-2) years of experience working independently as an accountant or related field working with financial audits.
  • Must possess knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

  • Must possess knowledge of general ledger accounting, auditing standards, and processes.

    • Must be able to document and modify accounting processes and internal controls.

    • Must be able to identify internal control deficiencies through testing and support remediation efforts.

    • Must be able to evaluate transaction-level evidential matter.

  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
