It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to maintain and manage accounts, secure future business opportunities and attend networking meetings to promote business. Additional responsibilities include assisting the General Manager with sales and marketing budget forecast, advertising and marketing and business plans. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordinate all group, transient, and catering sales solicitations and bookings to maximize overall revenue. In partnership with the GM, assist in the development and management of the division’s annual budget, advertising, public relations, marketing, sales plans and programs for the hotel to maximize rate occupancy and food & beverage opportunities thus ensuring the hotel meets/exceeds management and owner revenue/profit goals and expectations. Proactively conduct outside sales calls and conduct sales tours. Understand the content reflected in contracts and how to negotiate terms therein. Use negotiating, communication skills and creative sales ability to close on business sales opportunities. Develop and maintain market awareness to ensure ability to predict revenue opportunities and set proactive strategies. Monitor production of all top accounts and evaluate trends within your market. Develop and grow new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals by prospecting, making sales calls, entertaining and conducting site inspections; all through convincing verbal and written communication. Evaluate and manage inquiries through pre-qualifications, rate negotiations, issue proposals and contracts, process bookings, and follow up appropriately with established and prospective clients all in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures. Identify and develop opportunities to maximize revenue by selling all facets of the resort. Represent company at tradeshows, client & industry events and maintain consistency within the corporate standard. Provide input and execute strategic plan consistent with department goals. Adhere to established regulations, company standards, sales standards and sales metrics related. Comply with attainment of individual goals as well as team goals and budgeted metrics. Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner Coordinate and plan the events as a team with Catering Department. Oversee the events so that everything works according to the contract of the event In partnership with the General Manager help to attract, retain and motivate the sales team employees. Help to supervise Catering & Event Management Team (as applicable) to ensure that the Catering Food & Beverage and Meeting Room rental budgets are met or exceeded. Develop a full working knowledge of the operations and policies of the hotel including Sales, Food & Beverage, Front Office and Reservations. Maintain strong visibility in local community and industry organizations. Attend and/or conduct daily/weekly/monthly meetings and any other functions required by management to provide regular training on a rotational basis. Maintain professional working relationships and promote open lines of communication to achieve initiatives with respective marketing partner(s) and other internal departments (i.e., Food & Beverage). Travel as required. Act as “Manager on duty” as required. Other assigned Duties  AVAILABILITY This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Generally, the position works Monday through Friday with hours varied based on business demand. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Saturdays and Sundays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the number of hours that you work.  KEY COMPETENCIES Sales, Hospitality, Detail Oriented, Quick Thinker, Optimistic QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB At least 4 years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred; or a 4-year college degree and at least 1 year of related experience; or a 2-year college degree and at least 2 years of related experience. Must have a valid driver’s license in the applicable state. Must possess highly developed verbal & written communication skills to frequently negotiate convince sell and influence other managerial personnel hotel guest(s) and/or corporate clients. Must have thorough experience with professional selling skills: opening probing supporting closing Strong analytical skills and strategic vision in establishing appropriate sales deployment Proficient in general computer knowledge especially Microsoft Office products Able to work independently and simultaneously manage multiple tasks Strong organization and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and manage people of diverse socioeconomic cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds while solving complex problems and creating a productive sales team Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the sales/marketing/hospitality profession. Ability to work well in stressful high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Ability to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
