JOB SUMMARY:

Oversees and performs general repair and preventative maintenance on electric carts and gas golf carts; Performs diagnostic checks and repairs battery chargers as needed; Maintains scheduled checks on carts on a rotating basis, including replenishing water in batteries to maintaining charging capacity. Supervises Cart Mechanic First Class and/or Mechanic Second Class and the daily activities of the mechanic shop. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Golf cart, gas cart, utility cart, general mechanic's tools and wrenches, acetylene and electric (arc) welding torch, voltmeter, tire changer and two-way radio.

MATERIALS:

Cart's parts, batteries, tires, flat proofing for tires, towels, oil, gas, grease, cleaning cloths and solvent.

SOURCE AND NATURE OF SUPERVISION:

Receives working directions from Director of Golf, Golf Operations Manager and Golf Shop Supervisor. 

DIRECTION OF SUPERVISION:

Leads and provides immediate direction to the Cart Mechanic First Class and Mechanic Second Class in the performance of their duties.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  1. Supervises the Cart Mechanic First Class and Mechanic Second Class and the daily activities of the mechanic shop and reports any problems to Golf Shop Leadership Team.
  2. Oversees the general repair, preventative maintenance and overall appearance of all golf carts, maintaining them in a safe, operational condition, minimizing cart breakdown and preventing hazardous conditions.
  3. Applies good judgment to diagnose needed repairs, such as repairing and adjusting brakes, changing tires and seats, performing general diagnostic checks, installation and repairs of GPS units, and repairing battery charges.
  4. Welds broken parts for reinforcement purposes as required.
  5. Replenishes water in batteries and checks the charge output with a voltmeter to determine the condition of battery.
  6. Monitors the activity on the two-way radio and directs the trouble calls and responses to cart breakdowns on the golf courses. 
  7. Provides each guest with the highest level of customer service in accordance with the Company’s Customer Service handbook.
  8. Observes all Company house rules and regulations, including but not limited to safety regulations, following safe practices in the performance of assigned tasks and practicing good housekeeping in assigned work areas.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid driver's license
  2. 3-4 years experience in mechanic repair and preventative maintenance.
  3. Previous experience in golf cart repair and maintenance helpful.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:

Frequently requires standing, walking, reaching, twisting, handling, eye/hand coordination, bending, stooping, lifting/carrying/pulling/pushing of up to 20 lbs., exposure to heat and operating a golf cart.

Occasionally requires sitting, crouching/crawling, kneeling, climbing stairs, talking to co-workers, lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of up to 50 lbs., reading, writing, operating a two-way radio and light utility truck, exposure to sunlight, fumes, gases, noises, chemicals, fertilizers, golf balls in play, wet and other environmental conditions customary to working on or around golf courses. 

Visual capabilities required: good to excellent vision, depth perception, wide field of vision and color vision.
