Westlake Eye Specialist is a well-established practice emphasizing medical eye care/surgery, including cataracts, diabetic eye disease, AMD, and glaucoma. Optometry candidates should be comfortable with pre and post-op cataract/LASIK/PRK and have general knowledge of blepharoplasty surgery. Preferred applicants to be approved Optometric Glaucoma Specialists ā€œOGSā€, or willing to work towards OGS approval.

Our team includes two experienced optometrists, three ophthalmic surgeons, and two oculoplastic surgeons. With five locations across central TX, we combine this experience with state-of-the-art technology to provide patients in central Texas with the best eye care options.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesĀ include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Performs general eye examinations and office visits as needed.
  2. Develop positive optometrist-patient relationships.
  3. Evaluate patients for LASIK or other refractive surgery and make recommendations as to treatment options to the Ophthalmologist.
  4. Works with the Ophthalmologist to achieve the best possible outcome for all patients.
  5. Demonstrates mastery of pre-and post-operative care for patients
  6. Work with the technicians to improve efficiencies in testing and patient work up and ensure accurate patient refractions.
  7. Executes consistent and specific medical protocol.
  8. Trains patients or caregivers in techniques for managing at-home care.
  9. Provides leadership, management, and accountability for timely patient appointments.
  10. Represents the organization within the public, medical, and business community.
  11. Records and maintains clinical and business data in written and/or electronic form.
  12. Participation in co-management and related special projects.
  13. Shared on-call duties with MD/OD staff

Certificates and Licenses:

Licensed to practice Optometry in the State of Texas before beginning employment. Excellent standing with all licensure authorities.
