Job Description

The Sciences and Mathematics Department at Texas A&M University–Central Texas (TAMUCT) is seeking applicants for a professional track assistant lecturer in the Professional Pilot and Aviation Management, Aviation and A&P Management degree programs for Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be expected to teach various 100% online undergraduate aviation courses. An M.S. or M.A. in Aviation Science or a related field from a regionally accredited institution is required. Strong online teaching skills and experience with undergraduates are required.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer. The department is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.

Basic Function:

Primarily responsible for the teaching/learning process and will also participate in the necessary operations of the institution. Other responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in the degree programs, advising students, course and program assessment, student recruitment, serving on departmental and university committees, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach a variety of undergraduate-level classes in the Professional Pilot and Aviation Management, Aviation and A&P Management degree programs.

  • Write syllabi for the courses using the approved format of the College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Meet with students enrolled in their classes when students need additional assistance with class material and assignments.

  • Teach thirty workload credits each academic year. Summer semester teaching is negotiated on an as-needed basis.

  • Carry out additional requirements of faculty including conducting learning outcome measures on all courses taught to assist in maintaining accreditation.

  • Working with the Department Chair on developing course schedules.

  • Attending university and college faculty meetings.

  • Serving on university committees as requested or assigned by the Provost, Dean, or Department Chair.

  • Providing academic advising to prospective and current students, faculty development, and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.S. or M.A. in Aviation Science or a related field.

  • Demonstrate a track record of growth and improvement as an educator.

  • Verifiable teaching experience with online Learning Management Systems (LMS), preferably in a collegiate setting.

  • Possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission of Colleges (SACSCOC) credentialing standards, typically including at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area taught.

  • Hold an FAA Commercial Pilot rating, Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating, Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) rating, or Airline Transport Rating (ATP).

  • Significant in-depth aviation industry experience, either civil or military. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with significant experience with writing at the APA or MLA level.

  • Have experience advancing a student's aviation career through advising, mentoring, outreach, etc.

  • Experience in curriculum or program development, syllabus design, and instructional innovation

  • Ability to work as a team member.

  • Organizational and administrative skills.

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Hours: Faculty hours; M-F; hours may vary by assignment
