Summary: 

At Aptiv, we inspire the world’s most innovative teams by doing the right thing, the right way. We are seeking a high-caliber Process Engineer to support all cabling and extrusion processes in operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting twisting, bunching, and planetary type cabling equipment, as well as extrusion processes utilizing PVC, TPE, TPU, Nylon, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymers, and Cross-Linked Polyethylene over copper wire gauges ranging from 4/0 down to 44 AWG. These high-performance cable products serve key markets including industrial, multimedia, data-com, medical, military, and alternative energy.

Leadership & Core Responsibilities:

Strategic Process Improvement & Efficiency

  • Extrusion & Cabling Optimization: Identify highest impact opportunities to improve overall extrusion and cabling process utilization and efficiencies, driving improvements to completion with validated financial impact.
  • Quality & Waste Reduction: Identify high-impact opportunities to enhance product quality and reduce raw material process losses, driving projects through to completion.
  • Production Improvement: Prioritize and implement optimized production objectives to deliver cost savings, enhance safety, and support new product introduction on schedule in a team environment.

Technical Execution & Collaboration

  • Cross-Functional Engineering: Work directly with design engineering and suppliers to develop innovative engineered process solutions, ensuring alignment between machine capability, materials, and customer requirements.
  • Lean Manufacturing Leadership: Serve as a contributing thought leader in implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques to streamline production and maximize efficiencies.
  • Technology & Equipment Innovation: Partner with project engineers and suppliers to identify new technologies, select/design tooling and fixtures, or modify equipment to increase productivity, supported by documented ROI analysis and capital requests.
  • NPD & Process Validation: Support development engineering in new product development by assessing process capabilities, writing and performing process validations, and creating operator training procedures/SOPs.

Position Requirements:

Education & Technical Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Chemical, or Material Science) with a 3.0+ GPA preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically with bulk cable and/or cable assembly.
  • Industry Domain: Comprehensive knowledge of bulk cable and cable assembly design, materials, components, processes, electrical/mechanical testing, and regulatory approvals.

Certifications & Competencies:

  • Certifications: Lean Six Sigma, PMP, or PE certifications preferred.
  • Systems Proficiency: Working knowledge of Google Enterprise, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, ADP, Visual ERP, and Access database navigation.
  • Core Competencies: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, cross-functional collaboration, ROI analysis, and Lean Manufacturing implementation.

Compensation, Benefits & Legal:

Total Rewards & Compensation

  • Base Salary Range: $90,000 – $110,000 per year, contingent upon experience, education, skills, and qualifications.
  • Incentive Compensation: Position is eligible for additional incentive compensation.
