Coast Electric is currently seeking a GIS Technician II to maintain and update GIS mapping and facility data while providing technical support for electric and CoastConnect operations. The position will also assist with engineering drawings, field verification, GPS data collection, and system mapping.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and update GIS maps and facility information based on work orders, construction specifications, system expansions, subdivision plats, and aerial photographs.
  • Query, review, validate, and modify data using GIS and related database and reporting applications.
  • Assist with field verification and GPS data collection to maintain accurate facility records.
  • Prepare and revise technical drawings, construction specifications, system study maps, and substation design drawings.
  • Assist with managing data for the national joint use notification system and scheduled updates sent to Mississippi 811.
  • Support GIS and mapping needs associated with CoastConnect operations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university. Related experience may be considered in lieu of the required education.
  • Experience with GIS, computer-aided drafting system, network operating systems, and the operation and maintenance of plotters, printers, digitizers, and other computer peripherals.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcMap, Autodesk applications, Microsoft Office, Microsoft SQL, or similar database management software preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and proficiency in the use of computers and related technology.
  • Valid driver's license required.
